The foundation of the "Assyrian Syriac Martyrs' Families" in the city of Hasakah is setting up economic programs to relieve the economic burden where the Syriac families that have lost their breadwinners, due to their participation in the defensive operations in north-eastern Syria.
The Assyrian Syriac Martyrs' Families Foundation in the city of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, bears the responsibility of the "Martyrs' Families" including women and children in all moral and material aspects.
In this regard, the co-chair of the foundation of the Assyrian Syriac Martyrs' Families, Armin Mardo said to North-Press: "We are setting now economic programs for the families to relieve the economic burden in which the people of the region as a whole suffer from due to the rise of the prices, as the foundation is providing constant livelihood for the families that lost their main breadwinner in the military operations,” noting that more than 15 people have been employed in the institutions of the Autonomous Administration of northeastern Syria, such as the municipalities and boards to obtain a constant monthly salary.
"Baskets which contain foodstuff and detergents are being distributed for each martyr's family every month, in addition to al-Qaraba (the Relative) project in cooperation with the Syriac Cross, where via the project, money is provided by the Syriac people abroad to be distributed on the families periodically,” Mardo said.
"Also, through this project, we are providing amounts of money for 17 children of the martyrs' at the beginning of the school year to meet the schools’ needs, as well as defining money amounts for the children of the martyrs whose age don't exceed 8,” he added.
Regarding the health aspect, the foundation guarantees the costs of treatment for the children of the martyrs including all diseases in addition to surgeries, clinics and medical receipts, according to Armin Mardo.
He added: "The ongoing Turkish military invasion in northeastern Syria doesn't only target a definite component, but it aims at snapping the stability and the coexistence among the components of the region as a whole, the big proof of that is the martyrdom of the Arabs, the Kurds, the Syriacs, the Assyrians and the Armenians while defending the region.”
It is worth mentioning that the office of the foundation of the "Assyrian Syriac Martyrs' Families" is in Hasakah and has branches in the city of Qamishli, the towns of Tirbe-Spi (Qahtaniya) and Derik (Malikiya), and its latest work is building a shrine for the "martyrs" of all the components in Hasakah.
Since 2015, and as the rest of other components, the Christian people were subjected to threats and terrorist attacks, the most prominent was the attack of the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) on al-Khabour area, which led to the displacement of many of the Syriacs and Assyrians from their villages and towns, and the last of which was the invasion of the Turkish military and its affiliated armed groups in northeastern Syria, which led to the death of dozens of Syriac and Assyrian youths, who were defending their areas along with the other components of the region.
