The media adviser in the office of the president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Massoud Barzani, said that they had warned that Turkey and its backed armed groups would make a demographic change in areas under their control in northern Syria.
Dialogue and Population Change
Kifah Mahmoud said in a special statement to North-Press that since the beginning of the Turkish military invasion that swept the borders with Syria, the Kurdish leadership announced in a statement issued by President Massoud Barzani and the Kurdistan Government that it stands with the dialogue and negotiations instead of using the military violence.
The statement also stressed that President Barzani, warned against any demographic change in areas under the Turkish control and its affiliated armed groups, noting that the use of the military method led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of local people of villages and cities targeted by Turkey and its backed armed groups.
Kifah Mahmoud added that a large number of the citizens of these villages and cities have been displaced towards Iraqi Kurdistan, which is their most safe haven, as he said; where the shelters, whether in the area of Bardarash or in Dohuk governorate have received the displaced Syrians.
Mahmoud pointed out that the political administration in the Kurdistan Regional Government did not stop receiving refugees, but continued the process of support and supply them through relief institutions of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Regarding the rapprochement between Kurdish parties, Mahmoud stressed that the calls were decades ago, in which President Barzani and the Kurdish leadership calls on all political forces and actors, especially working in the western part of Kurdistan to bring their views closer.
He also stressed that after the events, there is a great tendency in the Kurdish leadership to encourage all parties to start these dialogues among themselves and with the political parties in the Kurdistan Region, in order to reach a cooperative and solidarity formula between all these parties.
