SDF says two fighters killed in Turkish strike in Syria’s Hasakah 

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday that two of its fighters were killed in a Turkish drone strike in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.

In a statement, the SDF said that the “Turkish occupation” targeted at 10 am its forces in the town of Tel Hamis, east of Hasakah. as a result, two fighters were killed. 

The SDF added that the Turkish drone strike attacked the forces in charge of saving the security of the Hawl Camp that houses families of the ISIS former militants.

Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians and 8.254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.

The camp witnesses murders with different methods, most notably firearms. The management of the camp fears that the latest Turkish threats of invading areas in northern Syria would pave the way for ISIS to reorganize its ranks; North Press cited a statement by the management as saying.

The SDF’s statement indicated that such strikes provide the necessary ground for ISIS to reactivate.

The SDF noted that they would provide more information regarding the incident and share it with the public opinion.

Early in March, the Rojava Information Center (RIC), a Syrian-based research group, reported that Turkey conducted 130 drone strikes on northeast Syria in 2022 – a 46% increase over 2021.
