SDF arrests two ISIS members in Syria’s Raqq
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Friday the arrest of two members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the city of Raqqa in northern Syria.
This comes during the “Operation Retaliation for Raqqa Martyrs” which has been launched by the SDF backed by the forces of the US-led Global Coalition following the ISIS attack on a headquarters of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) on Dec. 26, 2022.
The SDF Media Center said their forces and the Coalition forces “raided the hideouts of ISIS cells in Raqqa city, arresting two ISIS terrorists.”
“The two arrested terrorists, Ahmed Eid al-Abed and Kasir Idan al-Abed joined ISIS in 2016 and swore allegiance again late last year,” the SDF added.
This operation comes one day after the SDF arrested the so-called “Wali of Raqqa”, a regional ISIS leader.
N Thursday, the SDF Media Center announced the arrest of 68 ISIS “terrorists” among them “Atallah al-Maythan the Wali [governor] of the so-called Wilayah [province] al-Raqqa.”
“Operation Retaliation for Raqqa Martyrs continues to achieve more firm results against the ISIS terrorist cells,” the SDF noted.
