AANES accuses Turkey of targeting its entities in NE Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Education Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) accused Turkey on Monday of blowing up one of its vehicles in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.

On Monday morning, a van belonging to the Education Board exploded in the city of Qamishli, injuring its driver as a result.

The blast left massive damage in the vehicle and in another one that was parking next to it.

In a statement issued after the explosion, the Education Board accused Turkey of being behind it, and stated that it was targeting its teachers and employees.

Mustafa Farhan, the Co-chair of the Education Board, told North Press that the Turkish state has targeted three schools in Jazira region (Hasakah Governorate) in the recent escalation.

“Today, it targeted Education Board in Qamishli. Turkey targeted employees of the Education Board while on duty,” Farhan noted.

In the statement, the board called on the guarantor states of the ceasefire agreements – the US and Russia – to put an end to the Turkish violations in northern Syria, and to stop it from targeting schools and educational institutions.

“At eight o’clock in the morning, a car was detonated using an explosive device planted by a terrorist cell targeting teachers in the city of Qamishli,” the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) said in a statement.

The Asayish statement added that Turkey is targeting northern Syria in a “barbaric” manner and seeks to destabilize the region and displace its people and target all civil institutions.

The statement accused Turkey of planting terrorist cells to carry out criminal operations in the region.
