SDF-linked personnel abort attempt by ISIS families to flee Syria’s Hawl Camp
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Late on Friday night, security personnel, affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in charge of watching and protecting Hawl Camp foiled an escape attempt by families of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) held in the camp, 45 km east of Hasakah city, northeast Syria.
A military source operating in the camp told North Press, “A group of women and minors known as Cubs of the Caliphate sought to escape from the Foreign sector after they crossed the fence surrounding the camp.”
“There was an attempt to escape by the cubs of caliphate. Two of the cubs were injured and three of them fled and the security forces are trying to find them, and also three of them were arrested,” the source added.
He added that no clashes took place, as some media outlets have circulated.
On November 23, a Turkish warplane hit three positions on the outskirt of Hawl Camp in which eight SDF-lined members, responsible for watching and guarding the camp, were killed.
The Turkish strike created a state of disorder in the camp as six people sought to escape but they were caught by security personnel of the camp.
