Turkish bombing threatens whole region – Mazloum Abdi

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, said on Sunday that the Turkish bombing of the “safe” areas of northern Syria threaten the whole region.

The cities of Kobani and Derik (al-Malikiyah), the northern countryside of Aleppo, and other areas on the Syrian-Turkish border were subjected on late Saturday and after Sunday mid-night to heavy bombardment by Turkish warplanes.

Abdi said in a tweet that the Turkish bombing “is not in favor of any party, adding that they “are making every effort to avoid a major catastrophe.”

The SDF commander noted that if war flares up, “all will be affected.”

“The attacks will not be limited to our regions which are now being subjected to aggressive and barbaric bombing,” he said.

Abdi called on people “to stay in their homes and abide by the directives of the Internal Security Forces [Asayish].”
