US seeks to freeze conflict in Syria until political solution begins – Jeffrey
WASHINGTON D.C, USA (North Press) – Former US Special Representative for Syria, James Franklin Jeffrey, said on Saturday his country is working to freeze conflict in Syria until a political solution to end war begins.
Jeffery, in an interview in Washington Online program broadcasted in Washington D.C by North Press networks, added that the presence of the US troops, Israel from the air, and Turkey in north Syria “block Assad, Russia and Iran from achieving a strategic victory in the center of the Middle East.”
He noted that maintaining a freeze and setting ceasefires “blocked any side from winning.”
He noted that it is more important now “alliance” between Russia and Iran in Ukraine and Syria “is absolutely critical to stop.”
The US administration seeks to freeze the conflict in Syria to ensure that the other side could not get a victory after its failure to implement “the plane a step-for-step resolution within the frame work of 2254,” according to Jeffrey.
Speaking of the Russian-Ukrainian war, he said it “eroded” US-Russian contacts in any field, adding, the Ukrainian conflict will resolve “with a compromise diplomatic ending that preserve Ukrainian independence.”
He stressed that “Assad has not won this war” and that he is now sitting on “rubble and ruin.”
