Unidentified gunmen kill man in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown attackers shot and killed on Monday a man in the eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press, “Hamada Hassan al-Ibrahim was shot dead by unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle in the town of al-Hirak in Daraa eastern countryside.”
The source added, “Al-Ibrahim was hospitalized to al-Hirak National Hospital and died there.”
“Al-Ibrahim was a civilian; he carried a settlement card since 2018, and he did serve in any military or security formation since then,” the source noted
In July 2018, the opposition armed factions and government forces reached a settlement agreement mediated by Russia in the opposition-held areas in Daraa Governorate. Under the deal, the opposition militants who agreed to hand over their heavy weapons were handed a settlement card and allowed to stay in Daraa, while those opposed the agreement would go to Idlib, which is under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with assassinations, arrests and thefts taking place on a daily basis, amid the government’s failure to hold it under control.
