Lawyers from NE Syria form committee to document violations in region
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – After a meeting in Kobani city, northern Syria, lawyers from different regions of north and east Syria established on Saturday a human rights committee to document violations that affect the residents and areas of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
Lawyer Mustafa Sheikh Muslim told North Press that 50 lawyers from Kobani, Manbij, Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and al-Jazira regions participated in the meeting to discuss the committee’s work protocol.
Sheikh Muslim added that the committee will have three lawyers for each city in north and east Syria.
Sheikh Muslim, who is a member of the Euphrates Bar Association of the AANES, said that the committee would legalize violations’ documents in line with the standards adopted and approved by international legal organizations.
Sheikh Muslim added that the committee will issue periodic reports to the media and public opinion, noting that official authorities can formally request documentation files from the committee.
