Queen Elizabeth II has died – Buckingham Palace
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving British monarch, has died at 96.
The queen “died peacefully”, on Thursday afternoon, at Balmoral Castle, her estate in the Scottish Highlands, an announcement came by the royal family officials.
“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” Prince Charles who has now become the King of the United Kingdom said in his statement.
“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world,” he added.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born on April 21, 1926. She was crowned as the Queen of the UK after the death of her father King George VI on February 6, 1952.
Elizabeth had been placed under medical supervision earlier Thursday, officials said, “Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” the palace had said in a statement.
The palace announced, on Wednesday, the cancellation of a supposed meeting with ministers, after doctors advised the Queen to rest.
