ISIS assassinates a civilian in Deir ez-Zor eastern Syria

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed on Thursday the arrest and, then, the killing of a civilian in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

ISIS-run Amaq News Agency, published a statement saying, ISIS militants could arrest Ayesh al-Meizer and then kill him on charges of dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Unknown militants kidnapped al-Meizer, 17, in front of his house. Two hours later, they came back and put his body in front of the house with a paper on it written with “The reason of the killing is dealing with the SDF,” a local source from the town of al-Zerr, 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor said.

The source added that al-Meizer worked in free jobs and did not belong to any political or military faction.

Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents carried out against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civil residents.

The SDF keeps pursuing ISIS sleeper cells in Deir ez-Zor eastern countryside with the aim to maintain security and stability of the region.
