US, EU to impose new sanctions on Russia

ERBIL, Syria (North Press) – The United States and Europe are planning on Tuesday to impose new sanctions on Moscow due to horrible war crimes against Ukrainian, as the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, warned from the possibility of discovering even more bodies in the areas from which Russian retreated.

This comes after Russian forces retreated from towns north the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv,  to refocus its offensive on the east and south.

The Ukrainian forces regained control on towns torn apart by the ongoing six-week war including Bucha, the suburb that spurred a global outrage as bodies were strewn across its streets; horrific images circulated for a mass grave; and there were tied up bodies that had been shot dead from close distances.

As a result, the US, Germany and Britain pledged to place new penalties on Russia.

Russia denied the accusations that its forces killed civilians and said it would present “empirical evidence” to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) proving that its forces weren’t involved in incident.

The American President, Joe Biden, called yesterday for a war crimes trial for Putin after many bodies were found in Bucha.

White House national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said that these crimes are yet to be proved to be a genocide but can be considered war crimes.

He also stressed once again that the US  would issue additional sanctions on Moscow.

The Ukrainian leader is expected to address the UNSC today via a video call, which is the first time for him since the Russian invasion on February 24.
