Our true alliance is with Russia and Iran: Syrian prominent diplomat

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – International conditions push Damascus to build true alliance with Russia and Iran and to choose resistance, Syrian Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bashar al-Jaafari, said yesterday.

“Syria is higher to respond to any statements by Saudi Arabia officials,” al-Jaafari stressed.

“The capital of Saudi Arabia still applies non-Arab agenda and policies of western countries,” al-Jaafari added.

Last week, the permanent representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Abdullah Y. al-Mouallimi said “Do not believe them if they claimed the war is over in Syria. Do not believe them if their president stands over a pyramid of innocent skulls pretending great triumph.”

“Do not believe them if they said they are fighting terrorism, they themselves let the door wide open to terrorism the day they allowed the terrorist Lebanese Hezbollah to enter their country,” he added.

Speaking to al-Mayadeen TV channel, al-Jaafari noted “every time Syria is close to triumph, hysteria of enemies deepens.”

Al-Jaafari pointed out that Damascus realizes the size of Washington in international policy. Damascus knows pretty well the ally from the enemy and the friend from the antagonist.

“Syrian-Russian relations are historic and they are ties of alliance. The coordination with Moscow is conducted on a daily basis to discuss issues, including Israeli aggressions,” he indicated.

In relation to Tehran, al-Jaafari mentioned that ties with Iran have an Islamic dimension and that Iran is Syria’s true alliance.

“Syria always discusses with its alliance issues important to Syria, Russia and Iran and the resistance.”
