Asayish find weapons in Syria’s Hawl Camp

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) found, yesterday evening, medium machineguns and pistols inside the fifth sector that houses Syrians in the Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah.

The received information during the follow-up indicated that “the fifth sector for Syrians includes weapons,” a security source of the camp told North Press.

Since early in 2021, about 91 murders were recorded in the camp most of them were of Iraqi refugees.

On November 27 and 28, Hawl Camp witnessed the killing of two Iraqis within 24 hours by gunshots to the head.

In late November, the camp witnessed the killing of two Iraqi refugees by unknown attackers said to be agents of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS).

On November 23, the Asayish arrested 14 members of an ISIS sleeper cell in Hawl camp.

The Hawl Camp houses about 15,650 families of which 8,049 Iraqi families, 5,153 Syrian families, 2,448 families in total of 8,245 individuals of women and children of detainees, militants, and dead of foreign ISIS.

Hawl Camp is known as a “ticking time bomb” due to the presence of extremists of ISIS wives and children, and tens of thousands of their supporters in a camp sometimes described as “the most dangerous camp in the world.”
