Opposition target government forces in northwest Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions bombed sites of the Syrian government forces in different areas northwestern Syrian.  

Military sources of the armed factions told North Press that the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, bombed government forces’ positions in northwest Syria. 

The factions targeted government points in the towns of Heir Darkal and Urum al-Kubra in the western countryside of Aleppo, with heavy artillery and grad missiles, the sources said.  

The al-Fateh al-Mubin bombed the sites of government forces in Jurin camp in the Ghab Plain area in the western countryside of Hama, with artillery and rockets, the sources added.

The sources indicated that similar shelling targeted military points of the Syrian government forces in the town of al-Arbikh, east of Idlib.

Yesterday, four members of the opposition factions were killed and others were wounded, in artillery and missile shelling by the Syrian government forces targeting the town of al-Qahira, west of Hama.

For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.  

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
