Countries curb Syria’s return to Arab League: Syrian FM

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal Mekdad said, “There is a country or two that are trying to curb the Syria’s return to the Arab League, implementing with this the American, Israeli, and foreign will.”

“Arab efforts are paid for the sake of Syria to return to its Arab surroundings,” Mekdad said in a statement to a local radio.

“This cannot be revealed right now because some will try to object and foil these efforts,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Minister stressed that most Arab countries want Syria’s quick return to the Arab League so that the latter can play its role.

“Without Syria, there cannot be a joint Arab action,” he pointed out.

Mekdad made his statement on the sidelines of a meeting for Syrian-Russian coordination bodies to follow up on the work of the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons, which was held at the Conferences Palace in Damascus.
