Ministers pay electoral promoting visits to Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, residents of the city of Aleppo, north Syria, considered the visits by Ministers of Endowments and Agriculture of the Syrian government to Aleppo as “promoting visit in order to support Baath Party’s candidate, Bashar al-Assad.”
On May 23, Minister of Endowments Muhammad Abdulsattar and Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Hassan Qatna visited the city of Aleppo.
The Minister of Endowments participated in a supporting campaign for Assad in Abdullah Ben Abbas Mosque.
Aleppo city, which was a major center for armed groups between 2012 and 2016, has an economic importance.
Meanwhile, Omar Assani (pseudonym), a resident from al-Muyassar neighborhood, is sitting in his house that suffers from power outage, and hearing about the Ministers’ arrival and departure but with no improvement in service condition.
He wondered about the aim of these surprise visits that coincided with Assad electoral campaign.
On March 24, both the Ministers of Endowments and Agriculture and Agrarian Reform visited the city of Aleppo; however they did not solve problems that the city suffered from.
“These visits did not change anything, they aim at drumming for Assad,” he added.
Meanwhile, some of those, who participated in the campaign and festivals, said “it is just a routine”.
Maysoun Haj Omar, a mother of three, who suffers from a poor financial situation, said, “if the conditions did not change, these elections will not be useful.”
Omar’s husband has been serving in the ranks of the Syrian government forces for six years.
“Since results are clear from the first day, there is no need for these promotion and electoral support,” she added.
