ISIS kills Syrian government soldiers near Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A number of members of the Syrian government forces were killed on Sunday when cells alleged to belong to the Islamic State (ISIS) targeted a bus carrying them in the Shula area, south of Syria’s Deir ez-Zor.
Recently, the Syrian Desert has witnessed repeated military operations carried out by ISIS against Syrian government forces, including ambushes, planting bombs and launching surprise attacks.
A military source from the government forces told the Syrian government official news agency SANA that a bus carrying soldiers on the Deir ez-Zor-Palmyra road in the Shula area came under fire on Sunday, killing three members and wounding others.
The source added that the shooting was from south of the road by a terrorist group coming from al-Tanf area.
Nearly ten Syrian government soldiers were killed and others were wounded on December 9, in an explosion of mines planted by ISIS on the Raqqa-Salamiyah highway in the eastern countryside of Hama.
On January 9, some 20 Syrian government soldiers were killed and others were wounded during an attack by ISIS on government sites in the Syrian Desert, east Hama.
About 30 members of the Syrian government forces were killed and others were wounded on December 30 in an attack on three buses in the Kabbajb area on the Deir ez-Zor-Palmyra road.
