SDF foils infiltration attempt by Turkish-backed groups in Syria’s Ain Issa

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) responded to an infiltration attempt by Turkish-backed armed opposition groups, north of the town of Ain Issa, north of Raqqa, on Friday night.

A military source told North Press that the armed opposition groups tried to infiltrate the M4 Highway on the eastern northern side of Ain Issa.

The silos of Ain Issa and the villages of Mesheirfa and Jahbal witnessed violent clashes between the SDF and the armed groups, coinciding with artillery shelling by the Turkish forces.

Since December 2020, Ain Issa has witnessed violent bombing and infiltration operations by the Turkish forces and the armed opposition groups.

The town of Ain Issa includes military points for the Syrian government forces and a base for the Russian forces, which were stationed in the town following understandings with the SDF in 2019, during the Turkish invasion of northeastern Syria.
