Assassination incidents increase in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified persons shot at the car of a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the town of Jadeed Ekedat, east of Deir ez-Zor on Monday.

A military source told North Press that unidentified persons opened fire on the car of Abu Hteisha, injuring two of his companions.

The source indicated that this is the second time in a week that Abu Hteisha is subjected to shooting by unidentified persons.

In the same context, unknown persons opened fire on an SDF member in the town of Sabha, east of Deir ez-Zor, on Monday.

A military source told North Press that the unknown persons used a silencer in shooting which injured the SDF member seriously.

In recent months, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing an increase in the activity of Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells, leading the SDF and the US-led Global Coalition to intensify their security operations.
