New Turkish reinforcements enter Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces sent a new military convoy to Syria on Sunday to support their points in Idlib governorate within northwest Syria’s de-escalation zone.
A convoy consisting of dozens of military vehicles entered Turkish bases in Zawiya Mountain in the south of Idlib, a field source told North Press.
The convoy, which entered through Kafr Losin border crossing, consisted of armored vehicles, trucks loaded with ammunition and logistical items, and prefabricated rooms in addition to several tanks, according to the source.
Recently, the region has been witnessing military escalation and mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed opposition militant groups.
Some 12,000 troops are reportedly present, as well as 11,160 Turkish military armored vehicles in the de-escalation zone under an agreement between Moscow and Ankara.
