Syrian Democratic Forces Commander: No one has right to attack ENKS or any party’s headquarters

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) –Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Mazloum Abdi said on Tuesday that no one has the right to attack the offices of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS), or any other political party in northern Syria.

Late Sunday night, unidentified people attacked ENKS’ office in Derbasiya, north of Hasakah, while others threw Molotov cocktails at the office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria, an ENKS member party, in Qamishli.

Abdi tweeted that the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) would follow up on the incident accordingly.

ENKS, founded in 2011, is an opposition bloc in the Autonomous Administration regions of North and East Syria, and also is a member of the Syrian opposition coalition. ENKS and the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK) are currently engaged in political talks to unify the Kurdish ranks in Syria as part of an initiative Abdi launched last year.

ENKS’ Secretariat accused security authorities of the Autonomous Administration (without naming it) on Monday of escalation and carrying out provocative actions targeting the intra-Kurdish talks.

Social media published photos of the party’s headquarters in Derbasiya that showed broken doors in addition to destroyed furniture and other items.

Saud al-Mulla, ENKS’ leader, told North Press on Monday that the authorities that were targeting their offices in Qamishli and Derbasiya to try and curb the efforts to unite the Kurdish political parties in Syria.
