Turkey keeps sending reinforcements to de-escalation zone in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkey sent on Monday, several military convoys to the Syrian territories strengthening its posts in Idlib, northwestern Syria. 

On Saturday, Turkey sent several military convoys including about 100 military armored vehicles to reinforce its posts in Idlib.

Five military convoys including more than 70 military armored vehicles which carried ammunition and logistical materials, in addition to 50 tanks entered the Syrian territories on Monday night, a local source told North Press.

The Turkish reinforcements entered through Kafr Lossin border crossing with Turkey heading towards the new established Turkish posts in Balyon, Ruwaiha, Qoqfin, and Deir Sunbul in Zawiya Mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib.

Sending Turkish military reinforcements to Idlib is taking place within the framework of preparing for a potential military operation by the Syrian government forces, a source of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham told North Press.

The number of the Turkish vehicles that entered the Syrian territories since the new signed ceasefire has reached 7,470 in addition to thousands of soldiers, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.  

The signed agreement in 2017 and its additional protocol of March 2020 provides for the cessation of military operations in Idlib and the surrounding areas.
