Crisis Management Team prepares to impose full lockdown in Syria’s Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Member of the Crisis Management Team in the Euphrates region, Mustafa Ito, said that the team decided to impose a partial curfew in the region for a period of five days after the end of the full lockdown.

Ito indicated that the partial curfew is a prelude to impose another full lockdown for ten days.

The full lockdown that was imposed on the Euphrates region will end on November 25.

“The partial curfew will start on November 26, and end on November 30,” he added.

“A full lockdown will be imposed again, starting from December 1 and ending on December 10,” he stated.

The goal of imposing the partial curfew is to help people to secure their food and living needs to prepare for the full lockdown, according to the team.

“All stores that sell vegetables, fruits and foodstuffs, in addition to industry stores, will be allowed to open in order to maintain agricultural machinery during the days of partial curfew,” he noted.

He added that gatherings, wedding halls and funeral tents will be prevented during the partial curfew, and schools and universities will be closed.

In a special statement to North Press on Monday, Hikmat Ahmad, spokesman of Scientific Committee for coronavirus in the Euphrates region, said that the full lockdown contributed in reducing the number of coronavirus infections to a large extent.

On November 15, full lockdown was imposed on the city of Kobani and its countryside for the first time following the increasing number of the infections.
