Turkish-backed Syrian opposition militants killed in infighting in Sere Kaniye

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – A militant from the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups was killed on Sunday, and others injured, in violent infighting in the northeastern Syrian city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain).

The fighting is the result of a dispute over the sharing of resources at the Douira checkpoint in Sere Kaniye countryside, according to media sources familiar with the events in the city.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that violent clashes took place with machine guns between the Sultan Murad and Division-20 groups in the city of Sere Kaniye.

Since the Turkish invasion of northeastern Syria in October last year, the town of Sere Kaniye has been under the control of Turkish forces and Turkish-backed opposition groups.

On October 27, the town of Sere Kaniye witnessed violent fighting between Turkish-backed opposition militant groups, which left five civilians dead, including a child and a woman.

The infighting causes panic and fear among civilians as a result of indiscriminate shells and bullets falling near the sites of clashes.
