The great majority of Ras al-Ain (Sere-Kaniye) residents were forced to flee their homes and stay in schools in Qamishli as a result of Turkish military operation in northeastern Syria.

Where nearly 15 families are staying in al-Liwa Official School, which is located in al-Seyahi neighborhood in Qamishli city, as the Autonomous Administration decided to evacuate the school of students to place the displaced people.

Ras al-Ain IDPs do not want to reside in camps, which they consider as a perpetuation of migration and displacement, as they demand to return to their homes which they had to leave.

In an interview made by North-Press with displaced people in schools in Qamishli city, Flamaz Sino, a resident of Ras al-Ain (Sere-Kaniye), has said: "The families in this school do not want to go to the camps. We want to return to our homes from which we were forcibly evicted."

While Zulekha Isau said she does not want anything but to go home. "We love our land and we don't want to live on another. Winter approaches and our children will not be able to cope with these difficult living conditions," she said.

Jiveen Khalil said that he doesn't want to leave the school because their situation would get worse, and that there's no other place to take a shelter in if they left the school.
