Duhok, Kurdistan – North-Press Agency

After the displacement of residents of the cities of northern Syria to the camps of Kurdistan Regional Government, refugee families from the cities of Afrin and Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) meet in Berde-Resh camp which located in the middle of scattered hills about 35 km north of the city of al-Mosul.

The Afrini woman Um Adel sits with her neighbor Um Akid from Sere-Kaniye, next to her tent in the camp, she told North-Press about her family's displacement tragedy and escape from the fierce fighting and shelling that was launched by Turkey against her city.

“We ran away in our clothes and we did not carry supplies nor our official documents because the Turkish shelling was horrible," said Um Adel.

She stops talking as if she does not want to go deeper into her memory: "Our neighbor who was behind us was killed," she sighed.

Um Adel tightened her hands on the rope of the tent looking at the sunset with distress, while her neighbor Um Akid began to speak to North-Press: "We had the same difficulties as well, when we fled our city, the shelling was still going on over the city; everything remained behind us as a very painful memory".
