Unknown people kill Asayish member in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A member of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) was killed and three others were injured on Saturday in an explosion targeting their vehicle in a town in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

A military source from the Asayish told North Press that “unknown individuals detonated an explosive device in a military vehicle of the Asayish during a routine inspection patrol of security checkpoints in al-Laeth area in the town of Gharanij, east of Deir ez-Zor.”

Unknown armed individuals and militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) occasionally attack checkpoints and security points belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Asayish. They also sometimes carry out attacks against tribal figures and civilian individuals, often resulting in casualties.

The explosion resulted in the killing of Asayish member Abdullah al-Ahmad, 26, and the injury of three others, the source added.

The source explained that the explosive device was planted near a garbage container on the right side of the road and exploded as the vehicle passed by.
