Turkish airstrike hits power-generating gas plant in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Turkish airstrike targeted late on Sunday the Sweidiya gas plant in the countryside of Derik, far northeast Syria. Several power substations were also put out of service due to previous airstrikes earlier on Sunday.
The power-generating Sweidiya gas plant was hit by a Turkish airstrike and the plant is still on fire.
Over the past two days, Turkey has been launching drone strikes on areas adjacent to the border in northern and northeastern Syria, targeting infrastructure facilities, and properties of residents. These attacks have resulted in civilian and military casualties.
The attacks put several power substations in the city of Qamishli and its countryside out of service. The Turkish airstrikes knocked two power substations in Amuda, one in Qamishli, and another in the town of Tirbe Spiyeh (al-Qahtaniya) out of operation.
