SDF arrests ISIS cell planning to carry out operations during Ramadan
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, anti-terror units within the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested a cell affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Raqqa region that planned to carry out acts of sabotage during Ramadan, according to the SDF media center.
The media center of SDF said that the cell consists of ten agents who belong to ISIS.
They planned to target citizens’ gatherings and civil administration institutions in the cities of Raqqa and Tabqa during Ramadan, in addition to carrying out sabotage operations targeting the security and stability of the region and thwarting the efforts of the internal security services, according to the media center.
The cell included a leader in ISIS ranks, operatives to carry out operations, an expert in explosives, and a communications officer, according to what was reported by the official website of SDF.
The units confiscated weapons and documents, in addition to communication devices that were with the suspected ISIS cell.
